The Gospel

I don’t think anyone can perfectly depict the reason for and life of Jesus better than the bible, but we are all called to try. I will do my best, and should further questions arise, I advise you to seek your answers in the book of John, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus the Nazarene, and Son of God, who remained at his side during his final three years. DO NOT USE GOOGLE.

It started in the beginning. Not like the beginning of this week, but the very beginning; when God spoke and the world began. By his word, the sun came into being, and the earth was formed, plants, animals, oceans, and lands all came into existence. He chose to take the dirt from the ground and shape out of it a creation taking after himself. A man, and from him a woman. Adam and Eve. The only creations made in his likeness, made to be with him.

Imagine it, the God who spoke and made everything come into existence, made a creation after himself, of whom He desired and found Joy in walking and talking and teaching with! It was perfect and without evil. God only had one rule. Do not eat of the tree, of the knowledge or good and evil. We broke that rule, and because God is a just God there had to be a consequence, we invited sin, and the consequence was death, and death separated us from God. However, God is also a merciful God and desired a relationship with us beyond our sins, he sent someone to take the punishment for us. He sent his son down, born of a virgin, taking on all the challenges and temptations of this world, and living a perfect life without sin, free from death. His son Jesus taught on mountains and in streets, cast out demons, healed the sick, and ordered the lame to walk and the blind to see. He called twelve men, sinners, and thieves, to his side to witness and act as he did, to be his disciples and teach others to do the same. And to cover our sins he surrendered to death, nailed to a pole atop a hill before hundreds of his people and friends, crowned by thorns, calling ‘FORGIVE THEM, FATHER, THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO.’

Jesus’ body was placed in a tomb and guarded, a stone was rolled over the entrance, and for three days his body lay there, but three days only. On the third day, Jesus rose from the grave conquering death, and appeared before his disciples promising them that a helper would come after him(The Holy Spirit) and that he would return, and on that day they would be reunited for eternity.

Jesus did not come to build a new religion, but a relationship with YOU. Jesus was most frequently referred to as a teacher, and those who followed Him were his students. His life and death were not an invitation to worship on Sunday and be a ‘good person’, but to live a life of knowing Jesus and being his student.

So, when you pray the salvation prayer, declaring with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”(Romans 10:9) Your saying Jesus I believe you, now my life is yours to do with as you will, I’m following you. What you teach, I will follow.
